Hong Kong Software Industry Association 2009 – 2010 Chairman Report
I would like to express my cordially thanks to executive council members, general council members for the support to Hong Kong Software Industry Association (HMSiCA) last year. It is my pleasure to be the Chairman of HMSiCA.
In response to the fast growing economy and getting internationalise of China, HMSiCA has proactively taken the responsibility for several project and organized many events so as to consolidate Hong Kong’s position as an ICT Hub to bridge ICT business between Mainland China and overseas. The following are the highlighted projects and events in this year:
1. Government Project
1. Hong Kong ICT Awards 2009: Best Collaboration Award
The OGCIO and the Organising Committee of Hong Kong ICT Awards have been accepted our suggestion to create the new “Best Collaboration Award” category in HK ICT Awards 2009. It is our honour for HMSiCA to be appointed as the organiser of this new Award Programme.
There were 36 high level applications received and the winners for each categories has been selected.
2. ICT Solution and Service Centre (ICTSSC) Project
The ICT HR Consortium has proposed the ICT Career Centre (ICTCC) Program so as to put the collaboration into action. There are seven pillar projects in the ICTCC Program, in which HMSiCA has volunteered to organize one of the pillar projects – the ICT Solution and Service Centre (ICTSSC) Project.
3. International Soft China 2010 – Hong Kong Pavilion (2 – 4 June 2010) and Hong Kong Delegation (1 – 3 June 2010)
A 144 sqm Hong Kong Pavilion have been setup with an elegant design at the second largest exhibition hall. The Pavilion was located at the entrance of the exhibition hall, which connected to the Main Exhibition Hall. This was a very good location where collected a lot of visitor traffic.
12 Hong Kong local software enterprises have been selected by the Steering & Vetting Committee as exhibitors of the Hong Kong Pavilion. They were all award winners and most of them were winners of the China Outstanding Software Product Award and HK ICT Awards. Nine of the exhibitors were SMEs which were eligible for the exhibition booth sponsorship from the OGCIO.
4. International ICT Expo 2010 : COSPA Pavilion (13 – 16 April 2010)
HMSiCA was organized a “2009 China Outstanding Software Products Pavilion” in ICT Expo 2010 during 13th – 16th April 2010. 6 winners of COSPA HK section have exhibited their products and services at the pavilion.
2. HMSiCA Events
The winners of COSPA 2009 were invited to participate the COSPA pavilion in HK ICT Expo, Hong Kong Pavilion in Int’l Soft China2010 in Beijing and Free HK ICT Excellence Exhibition in Shanghai to exhibited their products and services. It should be a great chance for entering China Market. The official call for entries of COSPA 2010 (Hong Kong Section) is started on 16 August 2010 and the deadline is 6:00pm, 15 October 2010.
1.1. China Outstanding Software Product Awards (COSPA) 2009 (Hong Kong Section) Presentation Ceremony (14 April 2010)
The COSPA 2009 (Hong Kong Section) Presentation Ceremony was held on 14th April 2010 at Hong Kong Exhibition Centre. This is the first time for HK companies can join the award program and all 9 outstanding products nominated from HK were accepted in the final national list. Over 120 ICT experts and industry partners have participated the Ceremony.
HMSiCA jointly organize a HKICT Industry delegation with six ICT Organisations. The Organising Committee is leading by Cyberport with sponsorship from OGCIO. The Hong Kong ICT industry delegation tour will visit the “Hong Kong ICT Week@Expo” to be held inShanghai, China during Sept 13 to 16, 2010, which is part of the thematic Hong Kong SAR Programme for Expo 2010 Shanghai(Shanghai World Expo). The exhibitors of Int’l Soft China 2010 – HK Pavilion organised by HMSiCA has been invited to join the free exhibitions and 10 exhibitors have confirmed to join.
4. Henan Delegation for IT Hope School Visit and Ceremony (20 – 24 April 2010)
